Keep Stonebridge Adventure Playground OPEN!
Autumn 2010 has seen the start of a big campaign to:
With the Lottery funding coming to an end in February 2011 the parents and children at
Stonebridge have called upon all current and ex-users to try to ensure that funding is made
available to keep the place open and free for any child to use. Audley Harrison, in England
to challenge David Haye for the heavyweight championship, was the first to offer his
support. As a former user, back in the 80s, Audley visited the Playground, and handed out
posters to the children. He also wore a ‘Keep Stonebridge Adventure Playground Open’
T-shirt as he entered the ring for the fight.
Other users past and present, are rallying round to save this popular facility for the
community!
Stonebridge Adventure has seen a number of it’s former users go on to bigger and better
things… Evan Williams became the first black principal ballet dancer at the Royal Ballet…
Maria Lawson was a runner up on the X factor, and Jason Roberts currently plays for
premier league team Blackburn Rovers.
